5 Sneaky Ways to Cut Calories

Posted by Caley on April 13th, 2009 at 04:11am

Little choices throughout the day can add up to a signifigant reduction in calories. You’ll hardly notice these subtle changes, and you may even like the sneaks better!

  1. Use calorie-free mustard instead of mayo on sandwiches, or at least switch to the fat-free variety of mayo.
  2. Skip the sugar or syrup in your morning cup. Flavor your coffee with cinnamon and/or nutmeg. We keep cinnamon sticks in our coffee grounds for wonderful flavor. Flavor tea with a slice of lemon. To sweeten iced tea, use no-sugar added fruit juice and fresh mint.
  3. Make the right choices when ordering pizza. Skip the meat altogether and load up on veggies. If you must have meat, grilled chicken has fewer calories than pepperoni or sausage. Many pizza places offer low-fat cheese too!  Order a personal sized pizza for yourself to avoid over-eating.
  4. If you love to dip, try healthy dips such as salsa with veggie sticks or fat-free yogurt with fresh fruit.
  5. Skip the croutons in your salads. For more crunch, add apples, celery, carrots or radishes.
