I know the season just ended and we’d all love to get on the Biggest Loser ranch to lose those pounds. Somehow that just doesn’t seem that possible. You’ve been working out twice a day seven days a week and it just isn’t working for you. Have you tried different recipes? The Biggest Loser always had new foods for the contestants to try. I found this great site that listed tons of healthy recipes that were eaten by these people. Along with this and working out it might be possible to look your greatest this summer. Some recipes that seem to be too good to be true and you can’t eat them, well you actually can! Like baked ziti. It’s not good to eat all the time, but at least you don’t have to completely cut it out of your diet.

Fish is another food that not everyone likes to eat. I for one, am one of those people. Stinky fish just does not seem appetizing to me, but it is healthy and it helps keep your cholesterol down. Try an Asian Salmon recipe. Again, Salmon, not too appetizing for me, but if you like fish it can be beneficial to you. Eat healthy and work out regularly. Good luck and shed those pounds!

Breakfast really is the most important meal of the day. Numerous studies have shown that those who eat breakfast consumer fewer calories over the course of the day. Breakfast gives you energy (both mental and physical) and keeps you from attacking unhealthy foods later in the day. Here are some things to keep in mind when making breakfast decisions.

What to Eat

Whole grains- Whole wheat or whole grain bead, muesli, granola or oatmeal are all great sources of fiber. Try sprinkling on fresh or a small amount of dried fruit. You can even make whole wheat crepes, pancakes or waffles. Go light on the syrup!

Protein- eggs, lean sausage (try Trader Joe’s chicken sausage line, yum!), nuts

Fresh fruit- If you are in a hurry, start your day with a smoothie made with yogurt, fresh fruit (strawberry and banana are a favorite combination) and orange juice.

Egg McMuffin- If you really want drive-thru, have a plain egg McMuffin with black coffee or tea for around 300 calories.

What Not to Eat

Fast Food Hashbrowns- These “sides” are loaded with saturated fat and contain more calories than entire meals.

Cinnamon Rolls- Cinnabon might be tasty but it’s similar to eating three pieces of cake for breakfast.

Croissants- You do not even want to know how much butter is in croissants. Certainly do not supplement these calories by turning a croissant into a breakfast sandwich.

Sugary cereals- These provide little to no nutritional content. You have to drink the milk to obtain any of the nutrients that cereal manufacturers spray onto the cereal. Try oatmeal instead.

Recently, Newsweek published an article on Men’s Weight Loss. They focus on several different studies that go to prove that men and women simply diet differently and in order for weight-loss to work, men and women need to pay special attention to those strengths and weaknesses. Here are the top 5 reasons differences:

1. Guys can say “no” to problem foods: A recent study monitored the brain activity of male and female participants when offered some of their favorite foods. It found that the men were able to curb their cravings while women were still thinking of the problem food long after they were asked to think of something else.

2. Men don’t pay attention to nutrition: Women tend to be more willing to take the time to research nutritious foods, read nutritional information on packaging and take the time to find healthy meals.

3. Men like to compete to lose: Men work better with an incentive such as betting a friend they can lose more weight where as women tend to do better when they work together and support each other for a weight loss goal.

4. Men feel less pressure about their weight: No news flash here, women are scrutinized more for weight and appearance than men.

5. Men have more muscle: Men tend to tackle weight loss goals more by exercise than women and lose more weight faster than women because they usually have more muscle mass.

As a chocolate addict and huge cookie fan, I was intrigued when I first read about The Cookie Diet. Losing weight and eating cookies: What could be better? It has even been rumored to help famous faces lose weight, including Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson and Mandy Moore.

What I didn’t know is that the cookies are special “diet cookies” that are designed to replace meals with cookies that have a smaller calorie count than a typical meal. The diet gets mixed reviews from doctors and dieticians, and after reading more about it, I’m not so sure I’m ready to swap my lunch out long term for a cookie. Sounds like a quick fix. Take a look at this report from ABC news and judge for yourself.
