Creating Your Own Home Gym

Like many other penny-pinchers in these horrendous economy, I too decided that my gym membership was expendable. Even though my membership fees were low, I started to think it was a waste to pay to go for a run and lift a few weights. I have since started running on a nearby trail with my boyfriend and dog (much more enjoyable than a treadmill). But because I do not have the money – or space – to buy a weight machine, I have to find other ways to do strength training. I found this great piece on Consumer Reports blog about different ways you can create an effective home gym for under $100. They suggest inexpensive items like dumbbells, resistance bands and stability balls. It’s a great way to get started on your strength training until you have the moola to get back into the gym or buy a home system. Read more and watch a video about creating a home gym here.
