Fitness Boot Camps

Posted by Caley on May 18th, 2009 at 06:28am

Over the weekend, a couple of local trainers were offering a free “boot-camp” style fitness class in the park. Hundreds of people signed up for this initial class, a good portion of which then registered for a month-look commitment. Fitness boot camps are quickly becoming one of the most popular workouts this year. Many follow a “camp” format, with people commiting to three classes/week for one to three months. With the drill sergeant/trainer yelling at you, these workouts are certainly a way to stay motivated as you exercise. In addition, they offer varied kinds of exercise and tremendous potential for burning calories (up to 600 calories in a typical session).

Personally, with my love of yoga/pilates on one hand, I’m not sure how well I would respond to this style of workout. But then again, these fitness boot camps are designed to push you out of your comfort zone and really challenge you.

Would you enroll in Fitness Boot Camp?
