Good Food, Bad Food: Salad

Filled with fresh veggies, salads are the classic diet food. If you’re watching your calories though, don’t assume that ordering a salad at your favorite restaurant is the healthiest option. For example, the Asian Sesame Salad from Panera Bread has 20 grams of fat and 29 grams of carbs, and the Olive Garden’s Garden-Fresh Salad with Dressing has almost twice your daily recommended amount of sodium.
But it doesn’t have to be this way! Making healthy salads at home is a breeze. For better options, try these recipes:

Oh my! I had no idea their was that much sodium in an Olive Garden salad. This is very good to know! Another example why its always best to make food yourself when possible. You never know what they are putting in there. Thank you for the information.

Thank you for this helpful information. I had no idea how much salt was in an Olive Garden salad! The Broccoli with pine nuts and cranberry recipe is delicious. It’s just another reminder that taking a little time to make your own salad is so worth it.
