Gorton’s Giveaways and Tilapia Review!

Many of you have probably heard of Gorton’s frozen fish–they do claim to be trusted since 1849 on their packaging, and that is a LONG time ago. Way before high sodium TV-dinners and spongy frozen meals, right?  We don’t take anyone else’s word, so we had to find out for ourselves.

We decided to review Gorton’s Grilled Tilapia with Roasted Garlic and Butter. It claimed to be 5-Star Tilapia on the packaging. But frozen, ready-made fish? We we’re forced to heat up the fish in the microwave since we are not blessed with an oven here at FaveDiets. It does state explicitly on the box, “For best results, cook in oven.”  I mean I didn’t think heating the fillets on folded paper towels would yield the best results, but I was pleasently surprised at the outcome.

This fish didn’t look like much straight out of the freezer. Yet, after a few minutes in the microwave our whole office smelled of fragrant garlic and butter. We felt like we were in a seafood restaurant! Although this fish doesn’t have real butter, the garlic flavor is enough to season the fish. Each fillet has only 80 calories and 2.5 grams of fat!! This is a quick, lean protein that you can add to any meal. We think it would be great with our Classic Lemon Orzo. Not only is this fish light on your waistline, but it will be light on your wallet too. Less than $4 for 2 fillets?! Incredible savings.
