Health Benefits of Coffee

Many Americans can’t start their day without a warm cup of joe. For years science experts and nutritionists have been going back and forth in deciding whether drinking coffee every day is a health benefit or a harmful addiction. And while many claims are still (and will probably remain) in dispute, here are a few generally agreed upon benefits of drinking coffee.
Decreased Risk of Disease
Research has shown that drinking one to three cups of coffee each day can reduce the risk of diabetes by more than 50% in men and 30% in women (compared to non-coffee drinkers). Other studies have concluded that drinking two cups of coffee each day can significantly reduce your risk of colon cancer and Parkinson’s disease.
Improved Athletic Ability
Caffeine, though not necessarily coffee, has been shown to positively enhance athletic strength and endurance. It is so powerful, in fact, that until recently the Olympic Committee considered it a “controlled substance” and had regulations on how much caffeine or coffee athletes were permitted to consume.
