Healthy Eating Plan

It seems to me that a lot of people might be wondering how to start eating healthy and what to eat? Healthy eating is a novel idea if you have a plan, and downright difficult if you don’t know what you’re doing. There are diets that suggest a person eat several small meals throughout the day to boost metabolism, help you burn calories and even increase energy. For example, the 3-hour Diet, which doesn’t emphasize the types of food you eat, just the portion size and the frequency of the meals.
Although these diets are helpful guidelines for starting on a healthy track, I still think it’s important to know what our bodies need and how to maximize on the 6 meal/day plan. So if this is something you’re interested in, take some notes, because these are the foods you should try eating on a consistent basis!
Lean Protein: boneless skinless chicken breast, fish (like tuna, salmon or whitefish), eggs, white turkey, cottage cheese (yes it’s a protein!)
Complex Carbohydrates: oatmeal, brown rice, potatoes, whole grain bread (make sure there’s no high fructose corn syrup in the ingredients!), fruit
Good Fat: avocados, low-fat cheeses, olive oil, fish oil, coconut oil, raw unsweetened cacao beans, nut butters
Bonus: eat as many veggies as you want!
So now, looking at this list of foods, think about how you could take one item from each list for every single meal you had throughout the day. For example, for breakfast have one egg white and one whole egg with whole grain toast and nut butter. Lunch: canned tuna atop salad greens with olive oil and vinegar dressing and a side of fresh fruit. Dinner: Chicken breast with brown rice and tons of veggies.
Get creative, there are more foods you can add to these lists, this is merely a suggested menu for healthy eating. Do a little research, expand your healthy culinary practices and notice how much your body loves healthy foods!!
