Sugar Stacks

With my ongoing struggle to give up sugar, I was interested to see the new Sugar Stacks website. The idea is simple: they measure in sugar cubes how much sugar is contained in various foods and beverages. These sugar cube stacks are a great way to visualize just how much sugar is in an item, when just reading a number amount in grams is hard to understand. The stacks for Coke sizes are some of the most cringe-worthy:
As the website points out, would you eat 16 sugar cubes? This is an interesting tool, but not without its problems. The website does not differentiate between types of sugar, representing “natural” sugars found in fruit, honey and agave nectar alongside refined sugars, even though the body clearly metabolizes these sugars differently.
