Top Five Exercises for a Cute Butt

Summer is upon us and that means swimsuit season. While you might be able to hide a flabby tummy, most swimsuits are going to display the state of your backside, even if you go for something with more coverage. Why not tighten up your booty with these exercises? Start now and you’ll have a bikini-worthy butt in no time, ready to show off in skinny jeans any time of year.
- Chair Pose (Yoga)- The chair pose in yoga is basically a variation on a squat. To do the chair pose, you first bring your feet together while standing upright. Lower your butt as though you are sitting in a chair, tightening your butt and abdominals, and bring your arms over your head with your fingers pointing to the ceiling and your palms facing one another. Hold for a a few minutes, while trying to lower down more and more. Straighten up.
- Lunges- There are many types of lunges which work your legs and butt. Lunges are so great because they work so many muscles at once. Here is my favorite:Walking Lunges- Stand upright with your feet together. Then, step forward with your left leg and bend both knees, lowering hips to the floor until your left leg is almost parallel to the floor. Left knee should be directly above your ankle and the back knee should be lowered but not touching the floor. Hold for a moment. Step back with your left leg to standing position again. Repeat on right side. Do 10 repetitions on each leg. Do 3 sets with short rests in between.
- Jumping Squats- This is definitely a way to up the calorie burning power of squats! Move your legs shoulder-width apart with your arms at your side. Squat down and then jump up as high as you can reaching for the ceiling. It helps to let out a little roar if you are doing these alone in the living room. When you land, lower back into a squat. Do 2-3 sets of 10.
- Hiking- Go take a hike! No really, hiking up and down an incline is the best exercise for your butt. Grab a few friends and head for a hill for a great afternoon.
- Biking- Riding a bike works every muscle in your butt, hips and thighs. Go for a 30-minute bike ride or try spinning at your gym.
